After months of development, iterations & testing, we are proud to present our native Referee App!”

- Dieter De Naeyer, Co-Founder at RefAssist

In May 2026, RefAssist launched the first version of their exclusive mobile app. Referees from all over the world can now check their appointments, add unavailabilities, fill out match reports and so much more whether they are on the field, on the couch or on the road. A full overview of the currently included functionalities and the ones to come.

Appointments

Officials can accept or reject appointments, check the match details, add appointments to their personal calendar and even generate directions from their current location to the venue’s address. These directions can be generated for any navigation platform installed on their devices. They can also check their colleagues’ details so they know who they have been appointed with.

Match reports

Match reports are also included in the first version of the mobile app. Officials search for the appointment for which they want to fill out and submit the report and switch to the ‘Reports’ tab.

The match report status is constantly tracked to give the officials an idea if their report has been approved or rejected.

If optional reports are used by the sports federation, officials can also trigger these via the app.

Awards

Casting and submitting votes has never been easier. For every appointment, referees can cast votes (according to the chosen configuration).

Based on the match data, voters can choose a team and a player to whom they would like to accredit one, two or three votes. They can save their progress and come back to it at a later date, or they can submit the votes to the federation.

At the end of the season, this data can be exported from RefAssist to reward the player with the most votes.

Open appointments

As a referee manager, you can avoid administrative labour and last-minute changes by allowing your officials to pick up open appointments.

Referees only see the matches for which they pass all appointment rules and other restrictions set by the federation. Optionally, they can also cancel appointments they assigned themselves to, which then reappear for other referees.

Agenda and (un)availabilities

Appointments, (un)availabilities, open appointments, back-up appointments,… All of them are compiled in the agenda.

Officials can also indicate their (un)availabilities in the app for a single or multiple days.

For the app, a new functionality was introduced: recurring (un)availabilities. Referees can indicate a period in which they are (un)available for the same recurring days, which saves them the time and effort of setting (un)availabilities for individual days dispersed throughout the season.

Push notifications

Thanks to the app, referees are now immediately notified of any change in their appointments. They can even decide which notifications they do and don’t want to receive.

Privacy settings

RefAssist’s flexibility is one of the main reasons the software can be used in 11 different sports disciplines all over the world. It also allows the users to be in full control of their personal details.

In their profile, referees can choose which data they want to show to their colleagues appointed to the same match. They can update these settings at any time.

Next release

The next big update is estimated to be released in Q3.

The majority of the developments will be aimed at the observers’ side of things.
