With a single RefAssist feature, you can assess your referees’ knowledge, create educational moments based on real-life scenarios, and identify areas where additional support or development may be needed. Introducing Match Video Enquiries, the latest addition to the RefAssist Match Video Management module.
Training Based on Real-Life Scenarios
The Match Video Management module has always had one primary purpose: to help officials learn from their peers’ mistakes and successes, ultimately supporting their professional development.
With the introduction of Match Video Enquiries, RefAssist has taken referee development to the next level. Federations can now link clips created or uploaded in the Clip Library to video-based tests, where referees answer multiple-choice questions related to each clip. This transforms every real-life scenario into a valuable learning opportunity.
When creating a test, administrators can define the correct answer for each question and optionally add a video hint and feedback explaining the correct decision. Multiple clips can also be included within a single test, allowing each question to focus on a different scenario.

Uncover Knowledge Gaps with Enquiry Statistics
Once participants have been invited and the test has been published, referees can begin answering the questions. Administrators can monitor progress in real time through comprehensive statistics.
For each question, administrators can see:
- How many referees have answered the question
- The average time spent on the question
- The difficulty level of the question, based on the percentage of correct answers
- A breakdown of all submitted answers
These insights make it easy to identify knowledge gaps and determine where additional training may be beneficial.

The Referee Experience
When a test becomes available, all invited participants receive a notification. By opening the notification, referees can access the test and begin answering the questions.
Once the test has been completed, referees receive a detailed overview of their results. Any feedback, explanations, or additional information attached to the questions is also displayed, providing immediate learning opportunities.

The development of the two overviews – one for the individual referee and one for the test administrator – was a very conscious decision. By providing participants with an individual performance overview, referees immediately gain insight into how well they performed on a specific topic. Strong results can boost confidence, while lower scores can highlight areas where additional training may be beneficial. Both outcomes provide valuable information for a referee’s development. At the same time, the statistics overview enables administrators to assess overall knowledge levels on specific subjects and identify opportunities for additional training.
